Weight-Loaded Pressure Conservation Vent
For terminal operators, tank-farm engineers, and emissions specialists, the Shand & Jurs 9413X Series weight-loaded pressure conservation vent protects atmospheric tanks against routine thermal and liquid-movement pressure excursions while keeping continuous vapor loss low.
Unlike free vents that communicate openly with atmosphere and lose product on every breathing cycle, the 9413X holds tank pressure against a weight-loaded, diaphragm-sealed pallet and opens only when the set pressure is reached, reducing evaporative loss and VOC emissions.
Peripheral and center-stem pallet guidance promotes smooth lift and consistent reseating during cycling. An air-cushion-seated FEP diaphragm resists sticking from ice or gum formation. Optional Expanda-Seal technology tightens the seal as pressure approaches setpoint, holding leakage under 0.5 SCFH at 95 percent.
Three configurations cover open (94130), closed outlet-larger-than-inlet (94131), and equal-size closed (94132) installations. Sizing is supported by WinSize software, sized per API 2000.
Peripheral and center-stem guidance keeps the pallet aligned through repeated cycling, promoting smooth lift and consistent reseating during routine breathing.
Standard FEP diaphragm resists adhesion from ice or gum formation, supporting positive sealing and predictable blowdown under cyclic service.
Optional self-energizing seal tightens as pressure approaches setpoint, holding leakage under 0.5 SCFH at 95 percent versus roughly 1.0 SCFH at 90.
Three configurations cover open atmospheric discharge (94130), closed outlet-larger-than-inlet (94131), and equal-size closed (94132) for vapor-recovery routing.
Standard 0.5 oz/in squared setting, configurable up to 24 oz/in squared, covers a broad range of low-pressure tank operating envelopes.
ANSI 125/150, EN1092-1 PN16, and JIS 10K drillings fit regional tank-nozzle standards without adapter plates or custom machining.

The 94131 is a closed vent with an outlet larger than the inlet, configured for pipe-away routing. The 94132 is a closed vent with equal-size inlet and outlet connections. Choose the model based on how you are discharging routine breathing: atmosphere, or piped into a vapor-recovery or control-system header.
Expanda-Seal is recommended where routine vapor loss near setpoint is a concern — VOC-regulated sites, nitrogen-blanketed tanks where leakage increases gas consumption, and high-value product storage. Expanda-Seal is available on configurations with a setpoint of 1.5 oz/in² or higher. It holds leakage under 0.5 SCFH at 95% of setpoint, compared with roughly 1.0 SCFH at 90% for a standard pallet.
Relief capacity is sized per API 2000 (Venting Atmospheric and Low-Pressure Storage Tanks). Shand & Jurs WinSize (EZ-Flow) software walks specifying engineers through flow, pressure, and size selection and produces documentation suitable for engineering review.
The 9413X supports ANSI 125/150, EN1092-1 PN16, and JIS 10K drillings (flat-face or raised-face per material), so the same model platform fits North American, European, and Asian tank installations without adapter plates.
Body materials include cast aluminum, cast steel, and 316 stainless steel. Alternate diaphragm elastomers — FKM, NBR, and PFA — extend chemical and temperature compatibility beyond standard FEP. Field-replaceable seat rings (in Al or 316 SS) support in-place maintenance.
Yes. ATEX certification is available as an option for classified European explosive atmospheres. Insulation jacket, steam jacket, and an All Weather Teflon coating are also offered for cold-weather, heated-service, or outdoor exposure requirements.
The 94131 and 94132 closed configurations pipe routine tank breathing directly into a vapor-recovery or control-system header rather than venting to atmosphere. Paired with an emergency vent and, where required, a flame arrester, the 9413X forms part of a complete atmospheric-tank protection stack.
With over a century of tank-safety heritage inside Cognesense, the Shand & Jurs 9413X Series weight-loaded pressure conservation vent protects atmospheric storage tanks against routine thermal and vapor-movement excursions while keeping continuous vapor loss low. Guided pallet geometry, diaphragm sealing, and optional Expanda-Seal technology support stable setpoints, reduced emissions, and predictable reseating. With API 2000 sizing, WinSize support, and global flange compatibility, the 9413X fits within Cognesense’s tank-safety portfolio to help terminals measure, monitor, and protect what matters most.
