Non-Metallic PVC Conservation Vent
For chemical plant engineers, wastewater specifiers, and corrosion specialists, the Shand & Jurs 94050 PVC Conservation Vent provides pressure and vacuum relief for atmospheric storage tanks in highly corrosive service where metallic vents are prone to pitting, coating failure, and premature replacement.
Unlike coated or stainless-steel vents that eventually corrode where acids, toxic liquids, or aggressive vapors contact the wetted interior, the 94050 is constructed entirely of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), eliminating structural corrosion and extending service life in aggressive chemical environments.
A cushion-seated FEP diaphragm and guided weight-loaded pallets maintain consistent sealing through thermal breathing cycles, with pressure capability up to 8 oz/in² and vacuum capability up to 4 oz/in² depending on configuration. Relief is sized per API 2000 using Shand & Jurs WinSize (EZ-Flow).
Available in pressure-only, vacuum-only, or combined P/V configurations, in 2″–12″ sizes with ANSI 125/150 flat-face flanges, the 94050 integrates directly with standard atmospheric tank nozzle connections on corrosive chemical, acid, and wastewater tanks.
Fully PVC body, seat, and pallets eliminate structural corrosion and coating degradation in aggressive chemical, acid, and oxidizing vapor service environments.
FEP diaphragm enhances sealing reliability under repeated pressure and vacuum cycling, maintaining consistent seat contact through routine thermal breathing.
Guided pallet geometry supports stable opening and reseating during normal tank breathing cycles, with predictable relief behavior under cyclic operation.
Pressure-only, vacuum-only, or combined P/V versions align device selection with specific tank-protection requirements on corrosive, aggressive, or toxic vapor storage.
Standard flat-face flange drilling integrates directly with atmospheric tank nozzle connections, simplifying retrofit and new-installation specification.
Relief capacity is sized per API 2000 using Shand & Jurs WinSize (EZ-Flow), supporting defensible vent selection based on anticipated flows and pressure drops.

PVC construction eliminates structural corrosion on the wetted interior, extending service life in aggressive chemical environments. The trade-off is a tighter operating temperature window (−20°F to +140°F) and lower maximum pressure than metallic vents.
Standard pressure setting begins at 0.5 oz/in² and can go up to 8 oz/in² depending on configuration. Vacuum capability is available up to 4 oz/in². The 94050 can be supplied as pressure-only, vacuum-only, or combined P/V to match specific tank protection requirements.
Capacity is sized per API 2000 using Shand & Jurs WinSize (EZ-Flow). Selection is based on anticipated flow rates and allowable pressure drops for the specific tank, so vent selection is defensible against the applicable code-of-construction and site safety program.
The 94050 is rated for −20°F to +140°F. For higher temperatures or more aggressive chemistry, Shand & Jurs FRP conservation vents such as the 9406X Series or the 94080 FRP Vacuum Vent extend the working range.
Yes. A closed pipe-away configuration is available that routes vapors to a recovery or treatment system rather than discharging to atmosphere, supporting closed-vent architectures on regulated chemical and wastewater sites.
Standard flange drilling is ANSI 125/150 flat face, matching atmospheric tank nozzle connections. Custom flange drilling is available for project-specific nozzle patterns.
With over a century of tank-safety heritage inside Cognesense, the Shand & Jurs 94050 PVC Conservation Vent is chosen when atmospheric storage tanks operate in aggressive chemical service where metallic vents corrode or fail prematurely. A fully non-metallic body, cushion-seated FEP diaphragm, and guided weight-loaded pallets deliver stable breathing performance and extended service life across acid, toxic, and wastewater tank applications. For aggressive-media storage, it is trusted wherever you need to measure, monitor, and protect what matters most.
