A large petroleum tank facility in Southern California needed to upgrade level gauging across 48 tanks — all running ageing float and tape systems. The brief: minimise downtime per tank.
L&J Technologies — a Cognesense brand — paired the evo 2600 Radar Level Gauge and evo 2600SW Stilling Well Adapter with the MCG 1350M Ground Level Display, MCG 3210 Field Interface Card Rack, and MCG 3900 Inventory Management System — keeping the existing float and tape gauges in place as a redundant system.

One partner. Every obligation. Legacy meets future.
The evo 2600 with evo 2600SW Stilling Well Adapter was installed while tanks stayed in service — by modifying the existing manhole cover and adding a 1.5″ NPT process connection. Float and tape transmitters remained in place as redundancy.
The MCG 1350M Ground Level Display removed the need to climb tanks. Using the existing MCG 2150 Remote Calibrator, the team programmed and calibrated every radar gauge with no hardwired connections — saving time and cost.
The MCG 3210 and MCG 3900 WINGauge handle field communication via L&J Technologies’ Tankway protocol — protecting control-room equipment while delivering real-time and historical product-level data.
Reliability and redundancy improved across all 48 tanks with no downtime. The same configuration is now being rolled out to 85 additional tanks on site.
