High-Capacity Pressure Relief Vent
For tank-farm specifiers, refinery engineers, and wastewater-facility designers, the Shand & Jurs 94160 pressure relief vent delivers high-capacity, economical overpressure protection for atmospheric storage tanks and low-pressure vessels where vacuum relief is not required.
Unlike combination pressure-and-vacuum vents that carry dual pallet assemblies, the 94160 runs a pressure-only architecture — fewer moving parts, simpler service, and lower maintenance exposure on tanks where vacuum relief is handled elsewhere or not needed.
Peripheral and center-stem pallet guidance keeps the pallet aligned under load, while a cushion-seated FEP diaphragm resists sticking from ice or gum formation. Standard set pressures begin at 0.5 oz/in². Optional Expanda-Seal holds leakage below 0.5 SCFH at 95 percent of setpoint.
Available in sizes 2 through 24 inches with ANSI, EN1092-1, or API-650 flange drillings. Field-replaceable seat rings support in-place maintenance, and Shand & Jurs WinSize software provides defensible sizing documentation.
Provides stable, predictable setpoint control during routine thermal breathing and pressure-upset events, with reseating behavior repeatable across service cycles.
Peripheral and center-stem guidance keeps the pallet aligned during lift and reseating, preserving sealing integrity across repeated operating cycles.
Reduces adhesion from ice or gum formation at the seat interface, maintaining reliable sealing performance in outdoor and cold-weather installations.
Supports in-place seat maintenance without replacing the full vent assembly, reducing outage duration and total lifecycle cost on high-service tanks.
Available on setpoints 1.5 oz/in² and higher, holds leakage under 0.5 SCFH at 95 percent of setpoint, reducing evaporative loss near operating pressure.
Available 2 through 24 inches with ANSI, EN1092-1, or API-650 drillings, covering small process tanks through large atmospheric storage tanks in one platform.

Where that is the case, a pressure-only vent like the 94160 is the economical choice: fewer moving parts, a simpler pallet architecture, and lower maintenance exposure than a combination P/V vent.
The 94160 is available in 10 nominal sizes from 2 inches through 24 inches, covering small process tanks through large atmospheric storage tanks on a single platform. The pallet seat is one nominal size smaller than the body.
ANSI Class 150 FF/RF, EN1092-1 PN16 FF/RF, and API-650 flange drilling are all available. Note: raised-face (RF) flanges are not available in aluminum.
Expanda-Seal is a self-energizing diaphragm seal that holds leakage under 0.5 SCFH at 95% of setpoint. It is available on setpoints 1.5 oz/in² and higher and is recommended where routine vapor loss near setpoint matters — VOC-regulated sites, high-value product tanks, and nitrogen-blanketed tanks where leakage raises blanketing-gas cost.
Yes. The 94160 supports in-place seat maintenance without replacing the full vent assembly, which reduces outage duration and lifecycle cost on tanks with frequent service requirements.
Relief capacity is sized per API 2000 methodology. Shand & Jurs WinSize (EZ-Flow) software walks engineers through flow, pressure, and size selection, producing documentation suitable for engineering and regulatory review.
Yes. A pressure limit switch can be specified to provide remote indication when the vent is in the relieving position, supporting DCS integration or alarm handling on monitored tanks.
With over a century of tank-safety heritage inside Cognesense, the Shand & Jurs 94160 pressure relief vent delivers high-capacity, economical overpressure protection for atmospheric storage tanks and low-pressure vessels where vacuum relief is not required. Guided pallet geometry, diaphragm sealing, and optional Expanda-Seal technology support stable setpoints, reduced vapor loss, and predictable service life. With sizes from 2 to 24 inches, field-replaceable seats, and WinSize sizing support, the 94160 fits within Cognesense’s portfolio to help terminals and chemical sites measure, monitor, and protect what matters most.
